Urgent deadline – 4th November 2019
Dear residents,
We have just been informed of a planning submission to Surrey County Council for a proposed new incinerator at Silvermere Haven Pet Cemetery on the Byfleet Road, providing up to 3 times the burning capacity of the current structure. The link below will take you to the planning application and related documents.
https://planning.surreycc.gov.uk/planappdisp.aspx?AppNo=SCC%20Ref%202019/0125
As you will see from the plan the development which is on green belt land is on an industrial scale. The incinerators with 5 x 12+ metre high chimneys and supporting plant and service area will have three-fold the current burning capacity. Being capable of handling the disposal of equine carcasses, in addition to increased volumes of smaller animals and both hazardous and non hazardous veterinary waste.
Local residents and golfers are naturally concerned about the impact of such a development on air quality, from the burning of this waste and from increased vehicle movements on the Byfleet Rd. They are also concerned that this development is on green belt land, which the current owners are trying to re-designate as brown field.
You will be aware that there was strong opposition locally to the previously proposed Redhill Rd waste incinerator, which was successful opposed.
From experience, objection is most effective if the planning authorities receive a huge volume of contacts, so residents who feel strongly about this should register their own individual objections. If any resident wants to volunteer for a coordination role then SGHRA will help with communications. Please contact the secretariat on 01932 859575 or mail@stgeorgesra.com
Representations concerning this planning proposal need to reach
