Summer parties tend to be the cause of an uplift in complaints/concerns amongst residents at this time of year and especially where Fireworks are used. The excitement of now being set free and able to have parties again is I am sure a great relief to many but can lead to the dismay of others. I would ask that you please think of those that are still feeling cautious about the freedom of the lock down and remaining partially isolated, especially those with nervous pets.
Neighbours are generally tolerant if it’s not a frequent occurrence and they feel that you are taking reasonable steps to consider them. Please let the Association know the details of the party and especially if Fireworks are being considered. The following Guidelines should be adhered to:
Please think of the following if you intend to have a party:
Inform you neighbours
Just a note through the door or letterbox indicating the date, start and finish times and if you are planning the use of Fireworks; remember that your neighbours may have children, nervous pets or have to go to work/school the following day; please try to stick to the times;
Fireworks
If you are planning to set off fireworks, please let the Residents Association know in advance so we can alert other residents so they have the ability to close their windows and doors in advance, to avoid unnecessary distress to them and especially their pets. Firework noise can travel far so it is not just your immediate neighbours that may be affected.
Music
Please be considerate when arranging the music, especially if the party is in your garden. Music carries a long way (particularly bass notes).
Complaints
Please respond to any complaints and be prepared to turn the music down if asked by neighbours, Estate staff, the Police or the Council.
After 11pm
Reduce the music volume, take the party inside, close windows and doors and check the noise level from the outside; if you can hear it, it is probably too loud.
Leaving the party
Please ask your guests to leave quietly, raised voice and slamming car doors later at night are very disturbing.
Be Neighbourly
Don’t have parties too often, try to be as neighbourly as possible.
If you need any assistance in informing your neighbours, please forward the correspondence to Secretariat via email on mail@stgeorgesra.com and we can help reach your neighbours for you.
