Dear Residents,
It is that time of year again where Oak Processionary Moth Caterpillars can be found on Oak trees in the area. These caterpillars are described as dull, grey-brown to black with a pale underside and the hairs are long and pale.
We would urge you to review any oak trees you may have in your garden and report any sightings to the Forestry Commission. You can contact the Forestry Commission by emailing opm@forestrycommission.gov.uk or calling 0300 067 4442. Nest Removal is often best left to professionals. The Commission are also able to give details of businesses that are able to remove the nests.
To find out further information about OPM you can visit the forestry commission website by clicking here.
If you come across the caterpillars or their webbed nests please do not touch them. Keep children and pets away as contact can cause itching and skin rashes.
If you require any general assistance please contact Paul Scott on 07880707989.
