Resident Reminders August 2021

Speeding – We are constantly reminding people of the need to maintain reasonable speed levels and we do have a general 25mph speed limit on our roads. Despite this, we often see vehicles and receive complaints about individuals, travelling much faster. Please take a moment to consider how you would feel if you had to explain to a fellow resident or even other members of your family that you were the cause of a fatal accident. If you see anyone driving in a reckless manner please call the gate staff on 01932 830402 to provide details of the vehicle and location. We carry out regular speed checks on our roads so do not be surprised when you are stopped and reminded if you are caught.

Byfleet Road / Camp End Road – Despite numerous reminders, individuals are still ignoring the road signs by making a right turn into the estate, putting theirs and more importantly others’ lives at risk. This area has seen a number of serious accidents and deaths over the past few years including one of our own residents. The signs are there for a reason and are governed by highway regulations which means if you are caught you will face court action. We have cameras recording the entrance and will automatically withdraw the gate pass/auto number plate recognition for anyone who is spotted regularly ignoring the signs. If requested we will also not hesitate to pass any images to the police for prosecution.

Verges –  We have recently seen an increase in planting and objects being placed on the verges by residents. The Residents’ Association own the majority of verges around the estate and permission is required for anything to be planted or placed on the verge. Anything placed on the verge without the relevant permission may be removed. We would also like to remind residents that it is your duty to maintain those verges that are immediately outside of your boundary in a manner that is in keeping with the estates vision of country lanes. If you require clarification on the area concerned or the extent of the works required, please make an enquiry through the website www.stgeorgesra.com or call the secretariat on 01932 859575.

Contractor Working Hours – Normal resident contractor working hours are Monday – Friday 08:00 to 18:00 except Bank Holidays and a few days over the Christmas break. Contractors will not normally be allowed into the Estate outside of these times unless previously agreed with the estate management team.

Please note that any agreed works carried out outside of normal working hours should be non-mechanical and noise must be kept to a minimum unless it is emergency works. You are asked to call the main office on 01932 859575 or email mail@stgeorgesra.com if you are planning such works, to enable the gate staff to be informed. Gardeners are classed as contractors.

Resident Construction Activity – During the lockdown and more recently, we have seen an increase in the delivery of building materials and small construction machinery to resident properties (not building sites). We would like to remind you that for 95% of properties on St Georges Hill, there is a clause in the property Deeds requiring the Association’s permission to erect anything on the property. This is totally independent of the Council’s permission and does not include any permitted development they may allow. You are advised to obtain a copy of the latest St Georges Hill planning guidelines 2017 which will provide the information required. If in any doubt, please contact the main office 01932 859575 or email mail@stgeorgesra.com and we will be able to advise.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their co-operation and understanding over the last couple of years while we make our way through these difficult times. Please come and join us at the upcoming Residents BBQ and drinks with a Jazz band, at the Tennis Club on 9th September at 7pm. Tickets available from the Secretariat email lauren.gillbanks@stgeorgesra.com
