Dear Resident,
We have recently received several reports from residents who have highlighted concerns regarding foxes and their behaviour on the estate. A recent quote from one of our residents is shown below:
‘The foxes are getting fatter and cheekier by the day. This is the second time they have dragged a whole bag of fish bait for anglers into our garden. Impossible to work out where it came from – definitely not here – but maybe time for a reminder to all residents to lock up all foodstuffs very carefully.’
To deter foxes, there are a number of preventative measures that residents can adhere to:
- Remove any potential food sources by putting food bins out on the day of collection; making sure the bin lids are securely shut.
- Place any bird feeders out of reach and cover any leftover pet food accordingly.
- Foxes are attracted to gardens as they provide a safe place for them to rest / hide. Ensure your property is secure so there are no easy access points.
- Use safe, appropriate non-toxic chemical animal repellents containing, for example, aluminium ammonium sulphate to discourage the animal e.g., Scoot.
- Use a battery-operated fox repeller, which emits a high-frequency noise that foxes can hear to deter them from entering the immediate area. Such products are available online.
