A short note and reminder about security on the Estate as winter closes in. I know that the Autumn Newsletter and Gary/Suzanna’s correspondence have highlighted a number of recommendations in this area but at the risk of causing irritation and overkill, I would like to update and reinforce the key points personally.
Last year we had the misfortune to appear to have been targeted by an organised, criminal gang from South America which resulted in a number of break-ins on the Estate. The police do not envisage this happening again this year, however, they have pointed out that at this time of year opportunistic burglary attempts do increase in and around the Elmbridge area. For a number of years we have been extremely fortunate to have had a remarkably low number of attempted burglaries on the Estate but we are not immune. We must be vigilant and particularly properties that are around the boundaries of the Estate.
Please take responsibility for the security of your own property, as a minimum make sure that the alarm system is working and that you remember to set it when you go out.
As an added comfort and as an additional precaution the Board has contracted with one of our security partners to provide extra security patrols from late afternoon through to the early hours of the morning over the winter months.
In keeping with our cautious approach to security and at the Board’s request, the gate staff are also being particularly vigilant in obtaining house details from non residents entering the Estate. At times it is most helpful for the staff to receive our support, for example, when you/your guests order an Uber it becomes a straightforward process if the driver knows the resident’s name and the house name. Clearly we do not want to embarrass visitors to the Estate but in the current environment we have to be careful.
I hope that you can make the Christmas drinks at the Golf Club on Wednesday, 6 December at 7.30pm. If you have any thoughts or comments on security or indeed anything else Estate related please do not hesitate to talk to one of the Board members.
All the best for the festive season,
Tony Morgan
