SGH Golf Club – new Marshall

As you may know from previous emails and newsletters, St George’s Hill Golf Club are very concerned that dog walkers, joggers and those out for a stroll are putting themselves in danger by walking across the golf course, often oblivious to the golfers around them.

We must remind you that the golf course is private land and Residents have no general right to use the majority of the various paths that cross the course or the land itself. Residents are entitled to use the roads and pathways that abound or in the case of one of them across the golf course as indicated on the plan attached. We ask that you use these pathways at all times.

This summer, members of the Golf Club staff have had occasion to speak to Residents who have used the practice ground to picnic and even hold a children’s birthday party. There are also a small number of dog walkers that have continuously ignored individual requests by the Club to keep their dogs under control, reflecting poorly on the majority of respectful owners.

As a result of the above, the Golf Club have employed the services of a Course Ranger to manage the general access of the course. His name is David Hanna, a retired Surrey Police Officer and a golfer who understands the daily workings of and natural flow of a golf course. As of 1st November 2017 he will be familiarising himself with the site and has been taken through an induction process by the Golf club.
