Dear Resident
Thank you to those who attended the Residents’ Forum on Monday evening. It was great to see 12 residents in person and have, for the first time, a further 22 residents joining online. I appreciated the opportunity to address a range of questions including the tennis club planning applications, the new office, security, and estate infrastructure, services and maintenance. I trust residents found it helpful and there was certainly value in being able to reach a broader audience by going online.
There was evident concern from some over the continued irritation of trespass by the Urban Explorers, and for those owners that are yet to fence their boundary fencing (as required by their respective deed) the RA will seek to enforce these obligations. There was also evidently a desire to enhance the access control procedures at the main entry gates to the estate and we are happy to explore the range of options of how this could be achieved. Any decision to change our entry procedures will need to be considered by the Board and voted upon by the collective residents at the AGM.
We followed up the Residents’ Forum with a meeting yesterday with our local Police at which residents’ security concerns were raised. Given the Police’s priority to tackle burglaries, their realistic assessment was that the activities of UEs does not routinely reach their threshold for the allocation of resources. However, this does not negate the generic advice to always call 999 if there are intruders on private property and the Police will respond with a proportionate response based on the information provided and the perceived level of risk. In addition, the Police offered to attend a future Residents’ Forum where they could advise on how best to prevent burglaries on the estate. I anticipate this would be welcome by residents and have agreed Monday 4 December at 6.30pm as the date. Residents are welcome to join in person (at my office) or via Teams. Please book your place at: mail@stgeorgesra.com. We have also asked the Police to share wider information of the prevailing risks of crime in the area and this will be passed on to residents for their wider awareness.
Please continue to raise any concerns you may have in relation to any aspect of the estate and we will continue to address them.
Regards,
Richard
