Dear Residents,
It has recently been brought to our attention that individuals from a group called “urban explorers” gained access to two empty properties on the estate some weeks ago. These individuals like to explore redundant or empty buildings and then post their trespass on You Tube.
Following on from this, we have two further incidents of trespass. On the first occasion three individuals were seen by our security on East Road and were directed off the estate. On a second occasion, four males were picked up by CCTV entering an empty plot near East Road. The police were called and apprehended the individuals. The individuals identified themselves as “urban explorers.” Once they were searched, the police released them as there was no evidence the individuals had either broken into a property, nor that they had stolen anything. It is a positive that security and the Police responded effectively.
Today another video has been brought to our attention of these same individuals entering another empty property in the area of Old Avenue. Given this trend, we remind all owners of empty or redundant properties to make sure that boundary fencing and the property itself is properly secured. We will also be increasing our security patrols in the areas of empty and redundant properties to try and deter any more of these individuals trespassing onto the estate. Please also be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
We are also engaging with the Police to identify if this is part of a wider trend, and to see if we can pursue actions against the individuals for trespass.
