Dear Resident
Further to our web post of 27 August, two “Urban Explorers” (whose ‘hobby’ is to explore empty and redundant buildings) entered the estate yesterday afternoon. They were picked up by a boundary property’s CCTV and then apprehended by our security (with the support of a resident’s private security), before being handed over to the Police. The Police searched and questioned the two individuals, but as there was no evidence, they had broken the law (as trespass is generally a civil offence), the individuals were released and escorted off the estate.
We reiterate our advice to all owners of empty or redundant properties to make sure that boundary fencing and the property itself is properly secured.
We are working with the property owner through whose plot the individuals gained access to the estate to improve the property’s boundary fencing. We are also maintaining our security patrols in the areas of empty and redundant properties and our close working relationship with the Police to try and deter any more of these individuals trespassing onto the estate. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
We will continue to keep you updated through these web posts (rather than unofficial WhatsApp messages), and these will be informed by the official advice from the Police.
